Got something to say? Go for it!
Chris Simmons traveled half way around the world on a journey to document one son’s dream of “following in his father’s footsteps” – as he retraced the WW II, Seabee’s experiences in the South Pacific during WW II.
Simmons met Vic Del Regno of To Reign Productions, the son of a World War II US Navy Seabee, just after Vic had discovered the previously, untold truth about his parents in a box of old letters. (The box contained more than 600 letters that were written between Vic’s parents during the war) This discovery started the pair on a five-year journey that took Simmons and Del Regno halfway around the world to the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, and then back to Vic’s hometown of Nyack, NY.
The film captures the deep loneliness and hardship many couples endured during war; and moviegoers experience a deeper look into the emotional cost of war, and realize the difference that one letter can make!
“Till Then: A Journey Through World War II Love Letters,” will be featured in this year’s Rhode Island Film Festival. It will be shown at The Vets in Providence, RI, on Thursday, August 8th, 2013 at 6:30 pm.
